In-Person and Virtual Visits

Vanessa LOVES visiting schools! It’s like being in her old school library media center, except now she can connect with thousands of kids in many different schools. There’s no greater joy than connecting reading and writing with children!

Students and teachers will enjoy her interactive presentations.

 

  • Author Talk (1 hour) 

Bringing literature to life through author, Vanessa Fortenberry’s reading and writing journey.

  • Full Day  

Typical Schedule (Adjustments can be made, but not to exceed 4 hours’ worth of presentations/sessions listed below)

  • Half Day

  • School/Library Visit: Bringing literature to life through author, Vanessa Fortenberry’s reading and writing journey.

K1st Grade session – 20 minutes (Read aloud and interactive song)

2nd Grade session – 30 minutes

3rd-5th Grade session – 60 minutes

 

  • Collecting Words: 2nd – 5th Grade session – 60 minutes

To introduce students to a variety of vocabulary words; to support their understanding of  how words connect people, through story, to encourage them to collect “words,” and to use them in future writing projects.

 

  • Poetry: Writing limericks (fun & interactive)

2nd Grade session – 60 minutes

K and/or 1st Grade session – 20 to 30 minutes (Read aloud and activity)

 

  • It’s Not a Book Report, It’s a Book Talk:  

3rd – 5th Grade workshop

4 days/ 60 minutes each  (schools located within 30 – 40 minutes from Decatur, GA, only. Further away, please contact Vanessa.)
